“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8
This is the principle of the harvest. It says, basically, you’ll reap what you sow. That is, if you plant an apple seed, you’re not going to get oranges back. If you plant corn, you’re not going to get beans back. If you plant corn, you’re going to get corn back. It’s the same in life. If you plant criticism, you’re going to get criticism back. If you plant negativity, you will reap negativity. But if you sow generosity, you will reap generosity. You’ll reap whatever you sow in life. But you’ll always reap more than you sow. If you plant one apple seed, you don’t get one apple back; no, it grows a tree, and you get bushels of apples back over time. In fact, the farmer knows that if he plants two bushels of wheat, he will get back on average sixty-seven bushels of wheat in return. If the farmer plants seven and a half pounds of corn, he will get back, on average, one hundred twenty bushels of corn in return. So the farmer knows that when he’s down to his last bags of seed, he doesn’t say, “Well, I’m going to hold on to these. This is all I’ve got. I’m down to my last bags of seed. I’m not going to give the seed away to the soil. It’s all I’ve got.” No, the farmer knows when he’s down to his last bags of seed, he gives his seed away to the soil so he can get so much more in return. The farmer knows that when you have a need, you plant a seed.
It’s the same with our giving. God says that if you want to get, then you have to first give. Some people say, “Well, when all my needs are met, then I’ll give.” And God says, “When you give, I’ll meet all your needs.” God wants us to give in advance because that’s when it’s faith. It’s not faith to give whatever is left over. It’s faith to give first and say, “God, I trust you to meet all my needs.” The Bible says that without faith it is impossible to please God. God’s looking for our faith. Folks, God is not impressed by what you’re going to give. That doesn’t impress Him at all. Some people say, “Well God, if you really bless me, I’ll give some of that. God, if you help me win the lottery, I’ll probably tithe on that.” God is not impressed by what we are going to give. He’s only impressed by what we give. He only looks at that. Why would God want to bless us more when we don’t give on what He has already blessed us with? You see, He’s not impressed by what you’re going to give. He just looks at what you give.
Are you sowing good seeds, seeds of love and encouragement? Or are you sowing negative seeds? Ask God to help you sow the seeds unto which you want to reap.
