What to Do When There Seems to Be No Way, Part 3

“Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD.  May the LORD bless you from Zion, He who is the Maker of heaven and earth.”  Psalms 134:2-3 (NIV)

So far, we’ve uncovered three steps God would have us take for Him to make a way where there seems to be no way:

  1. Pray for God to make a way.
  2. Perceive it. Believe that He can do it!  He is the Maker of Heaven and earth.
  3. Prepare for it. Before God can make a way, we must obey what we know to be His will.

Another way we can prepare for God to make a way and perceive that He is doing a new thing is through praise!  This is the fourth step God would have us take for Him to make a way where there seems to be no way. Praise is a faith proclamation. The Psalmist tells us,

“Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD.  May the LORD bless you from Zion, He who is the Maker of heaven and earth.”  Psalms 134:2-3 (NIV)

Just as disobedience can block the blessings of God, so can complaining.  If we are to prepare for the Maker to make a way, we must obey what God has already told us to do and praise Him for all He has done.  The Bible says that God inhabits the praises of His people.  Praise shifts our attention from being so self-conscious to being more God-conscious.  It causes us to take God more seriously and ourselves less seriously.  When we praise the Maker of heaven and earth, we realize that there is no problem we could possibly have that is greater than God’s power to handle!  How often do we overestimate our ability and underestimate God’s?  We can’t fathom God, but we can find Him. We can’t comprehend Him, but we can know Him!  When we praise Him, we can say with Paul,

“Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge!  How impossible it is for us to understand His decisions and His ways!  For who can know the LORD’S thoughts?  Who knows enough to give Him advice?  And who has given Him so much that He needs to pay it back?  For everything comes from Him and exists by His power and is intended for His glory. All glory to Him forever! Amen.”  Romans 11:33-36 (NLT)

What barrier are you facing that seems impossible to cross? Begin with prayer asking God, the Maker of all things to make a way where there seems to be no way. Fortify your faith with the promises of His Word to perceive that nothing is too difficult for Him. Prepare your heart to hear from God by aligning your life with His will and then praise Him for what He is going to do. Praise shifts our focus from the barriers to God’s blessings.
