“You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.’”
2 Chronicles 20:17 (NIV)
None of us can earn a miracle any more than we can earn our salvation, but we can put ourselves in a position to receive one. It’s like the wind in a sense. We can’t create the wind, but we can raise our sails to catch the wind and benefit from its power to move us. This is the final principle on the Miracle Map: Only God can provide a miracle, but you have to put yourself in a position to receive it.
One of the miracles in the Old Testament really opened my eyes to this Miracle Map principle of positioning. The Godly king of Judah and his nation were being attacked by three kings and their armies. The odds were against him – three to one! But, God revealed to the king of Judah that a miracle was on the way. God said to the king,
“You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you … Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.” 2 Chron. 20:17 (NIV)
Do you see it too? God told the people of Judah,
“Take up your positions…”
God was telling them, “It’s not your job to fight the battle and win a miracle victory. That’s My job. Your job is not to conjure up a miracle. Your job is to put yourself in position to receive the miracle I have for you.”
The same is true for you. You don’t have to struggle for God’s miracles and blessings. You don’t have to earn God’s miracles and blessings. You just have to prepare yourself. Put your heart in position for the miracle. Then, stand firm on God’s promises. Tomorrow, we’ll look more specifically at how the king and the people of Judah stood firm and experienced a miracle.
