The Mind of Christ

The Bible says, “’My thoughts are higher than your thoughts, and My ways are higher than your ways…’ says the Lord.” Many of us have thought patterns from our past that have hardened in our minds. We think these ways of thinking are true, but it’s not always the case. For instance, Satan comes to us in our minds and tells us that we are not worthy or valuable, but that’s a lie. God’s Word says that we’re children of God, that we are valuable in His eyes, that He thinks we’re worth dying for and that we’re righteous in Christ. There’s no condemnation in Christ Jesus. That is the truth. So we have to continually fill our minds with truth to change old habit patterns which keep us from experiencing transformation that God plans for us.

How do we fill in all the holes, the ruts, and the gaps in our minds that aren’t truth? The Bible says through His Word and Spirit God makes His will known to us. The Bible itself is truth, and as I fill my mind and heart with God’s Word, it fills in all the gaps so I can identify what is counterfeit. 1 Cor 2:10-16 tells us:

“…The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for,

‘Who has known the mind of the Lord

so as to instruct him?’

But we have the mind of Christ.’” (NIV)
