The God Hunt – A 40 Day Soul Safari, Day 33

“For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.” Colossians 2:9-10 (NLT2)

In our hunt for integrity, our souls long for wholeness. Left to ourselves, there’s an uneasy feeling of incompleteness; there’s a strange vacuum that needs to be filled. If you’ve ever felt that way, you’re not alone.  When the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Colossae, he told them that they were complete through their union with Christ. Only Jesus can fill that vacuum in our souls because in Christ lives all the fullness of God. This means that ALL of God was in Christ’s human body! So, when we have Christ, we have everything we need! We are complete in Him!

Even on days when we don’t feel like it, Jesus has given us all we need. The full power and presence of the Godhead, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have come to take up residence in our lives. When you are united with Christ, you don’t need to seek another religion or philosophy to satisfy the longing of your soul for completeness. We are complete in Him alone. I love the way the Amplified Bible translates this passage.  It says,

“For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature]. And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power].”

This is your position in Christ! You are a new person, indwelled and empowered by God Himself to live in the fullness of His Spirit. Have you tapped into your new identity in Christ?  Are you living in the fullness of His power? Begin to exercise His presence within you. Share more boldly. Give more generously. Love more freely. Stretch your faith and step outside your comfort zone. God will guide you and amaze you with what He can do as you learn to live and lean on Him.
