“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)
There are three things that can never be washed away by a flood, destroyed by fire, or fade with time – faith, hope and love.
“… But the greatest of these is love.”
As great and enduring as faith and hope are, love is superior! Love is supreme! Without love, the Bible says, I am nothing.
“So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.” 1 Corinthians 13:3b (MSG)
The truth is that people really don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. When God said He is love, He demonstrated it. In 1 John 3:16, the Bible says,
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”
If you want to know what real love is, you only have to look at the cross. Jesus loved you so much He said, “You’re worth dying for!” Even when you don’t feel like it and least deserve it, you are loved! God loves you! In Romans 5:8, the Bible tells us,
“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Jesus gave His life for us so that He may offer His life to us. He pursues a love relationship with us! Have you experienced God’s love? God desires to flood your life with love! Let Him. Open your heart to a love that will never let you down – God’s love! Take a moment right now to read this description of love that Paul wrote to the Ephesians. Read it out loud to yourself slowly and let God flood your life with love.
“Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with Him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of Himself to us. Love like that.” Eph. 5:2 (MSG)
The challenge of every Christ follower is to love like that. The only way we can is when God floods our life with His love!
