Restoring Faith

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)

When our kids were younger, we used to love to go to the beach and build sandcastles. Hours were spent forming and sculpting the sand with the complete understanding that, in just moments, the tide would come in and wash it all away. No worries. It was just a sandcastle.

Sandcastles are fun, but my fear is that so many people today are putting all their hope and future in their sandcastles only to be devastated when the tide of time and circumstances wash them away. Sandcastles are good, but they are only temporary. We all need some sandcastles in life like cars, homes, food, clothes, careers and money. But, what do we do when the flood comes and washes them all away?

God offers us more than just sandcastles. What He offers is eternal! After the flood comes and washes our sandcastles away, God offers to flood our lives with faith, hope and love. The Bible says these three remain. They are everlasting! They can never be washed away by the tide of time or circumstance! You may lose everything you’ve worked for in this world; but, when you do, God wants to flood your heart with faith! It’s only when God is all we have left that we realize God is enough! Our lives get so crowded with things that don’t matter that, before we know it, there is no room for God.

Faith is only as good as the object you place your faith in. Are you placing your faith in sandcastles? Put your faith in the One who will never leave you or forsake you. Put your faith in the One who spoke the world into being. Put your faith in the One who is Eternal! When you do, no matter how many sandcastles get washed away, your life will stand firm on solid ground!

Even through loss, God is at work restoring our hearts with faith!
