It seems like everywhere we look we hear about another crisis in the world. Whenever I look at the newspaper or watch the news on television, instead of answering any of my questions, I end up with a lot more. The biggest question I have is what in the world is going on? Everything looks like it is in chaos, in crisis, and that the world is spinning out of control. That is when I have to stop, put down the newspaper, and pick up God’s Word. I pick up the Bible and bring my doubts and my fears and my questions to God. Then the confusion turns to clarity and I see that God is still in control.
In 1 Chronicles 19:11-13, this prayer was recorded at the height of King David’s reign, “ Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name.” Whether people and nations are in crisis or at a point of grandeur and power, God is still God. That will never change so there is always reason for us to praise his glorious name.
