Physical Health

We mentioned in the past and touched on it briefly that if you are a Christ follower, your body is actually God’s house. God literally lives in you through His spirit and He says your body is not your own. I bought it with a price, my blood shed on the cross, so you are to honor me with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19 says:

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price.  Therefore honor God with your body.”

God cares about our bodies, He cares about our souls, and He cares about our relationships. He cares about every area of our life. God wants us to be physically healthy to do the things that He wants us to do.  For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.  It is a new motivation to honor God with my body. As in other areas of our lives, we can ask God what He wants us to put into our body today. God, how do you want me to treat my body because it is really not my body, it is yours? When I mistreat my body, I am really mistreating the temple of the Holy Spirit. We belong entirely to God, heart, soul, mind, and body. He bought us with a price, and we are to surrender to Him.  He knows what is best for us. When we mistreat our body, we dishonor God. When we treat our body right, we honor God.  That is a powerful new motivation
