Passing Life's Tests

Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps His promise, and He will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test, He will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (TEV)

We all deal with times of testing and temptations in our lives. If you’re like me, sometimes better than others. They can leave you feeling battered and overwhelmed and, at times, even trapped. The good news is that you are not alone in the tests of life. Even Jesus faced times of testing. Hebrews 4:15 says,

This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testings we do, yet He did not sin.

Because God clothed Himself with our humanity, He subjected Himself to the same tests and temptations that we face. He understands. He cares. And He is able to deliver us through these tests! Hebrews 2:18 says,

Since He Himself has gone through suffering and testing, He is able to help us when we are being tested.

How does He help us pass the tests? Our passage today gives us some practical insight:

Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people.

You’re not alone, so don’t feel like you’ve been singled out. Others have past the tests, and so can you.

But God keeps His promise, and He will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm….

Whether it is a test from God or a temptation from Satan, God says He will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm. (See Job 1 and 2.)

… at the time you are put to the test, He will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out.

Look for the way out. Run for it!
