“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” John 14:21 (NKJV)
Imagine for a moment what it would be like if Jesus were to manifest Himself to you. The word manifest in this passage means “to appear, to show or to reveal.” In the Amplified Bible it says, “I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him.”
Have you ever considered that God longs to relate to you in such a way? The ancient discipline of meditating by divine or sacred reading offers opportunity for you to come into the presence of God unhurried. Don’t rush your time with God. Set aside time and ready your heart to hear Him speak by the Holy Spirit through His Word.
Then read the passage out loud. Ask God to renew your mind and give you understanding as you draw close to Him. The Bible promises that if we draw close to God, He would draw close to us! Press into your relationship with God as you read the passage again out loud and slowly. What is this verse saying to you personally? Read it out loud again and allow the Holy Spirit to show you what He would have you do.
Consider what commands God may be revealing to you that He would have you keep today. Ask Him for His power and the filling of the Holy Spirit to keep them. Wait a bit in His presence to listen for His still small voice or a prompting in your heart that He may impress upon you. Act on it today. Make the connection between what He is saying in His Word and what is happening in your daily life.
