“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with My victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 (NLT)
We all face times when we are afraid and discouraged. We don’t know what to do or where to turn. Our faith becomes weak and we feel like we are losing our grip. I remember a time like that in my life. I felt like I was in a tail spin and didn’t know how to pull up. I heard a preacher say that I just needed to hold on to God. That made me feel even more discouraged! I had lost my grip. Then in that still small voice that is ever so gentle, I sensed God’s Spirit whisper, “Grace is not your ability to hold on to Me. Grace is the grip of God when you let go.”
Meditate on this passage today from Isaiah. He must have felt the same way as we do at times. Even though he was the Prince of Prophets, life was difficult and discouraging at times; and his faith was tried and tested. As he experienced God’s grace sustaining him, he wrote these words. Read them out loud several times and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart and mind today. What is He saying to you? Are you afraid? Discouraged? Do you need strength? God wants to help you. He wants to hold you. Experience the firm grip He has on you even when you’ve lost yours.
Isn’t it so refreshing when we can relax in the confidence that God is able to handle every situation we bring to Him? As you read over the passage again, pray it back to God in faith applying each part of this promise to your life.
