“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” 1 Peter 4:10 (NLT)
Every Christ follower has at least one spiritual gift given them by God. When you received Christ by faith, the Holy Spirit imparted within you a special ability, talent or passion that He longs to fulfill through you. That gift is designed to bless the body of Christ as you serve Him by serving others. Have you opened your gift? How are you using it? In today’s Lectio Divina read the passage out loud and ask God what gift He has given you. What is it you are most passionate about? What do you love to do or wish someone was doing? Spiritual gifts don’t have to remain a mystery nor are they all that mysterious. They are the practical workings of the Holy Spirit energizing us and motivating us to serve in an area where He has skilled us. When you are operating out of your spiritual gift, you will have maximum effectiveness with minimum weariness. No one will have to motivate you. In fact, you enjoy it so much that you find the time flies by and you may miss a meal or two. As you read this passage several more times, let the Holy Spirit prompt your heart with ways that you may use the gift or gifts He has given you.
As your read the passage out loud again, thank God for the gift He has given you. Relax in His presence. Recognize that it is not your ability but your availability that God is looking for. Our responsibility is to respond to His ability. Remain restfully available and instantly obedient to what He says to you today.
