We need to live out a real and genuine faith in front of our children in such a way that in our everyday life, they see that it makes a difference. In everything that we do make sure that our faith comes through and that God is the Lord of our life.

“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength… And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deut 6:5-9.

It doesn’t say hit your kids over the head with the Bible. It says impress it on their hearts and you do that with every area of your life. When you talk, walk, sit, lie down, and rise up you are to speak of the glory of God. When children see a life of prayer, repentance, reconciliation, and service to others they will sit up and take notice. We are not drawn to God because of his justice but because of his goodness and mercy.

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.” Psalm 23:6. Isn’t this what we want for our children?
