Inside Out Project // Day 2

Well, we’re off to a great start on our Inside Out Personal Transformation Project as Chris and I ate a dinner of beans and rice and prayed for our food project in Maseno, Kenya. The Inside Out Project is based on Romans 12:2, so we hope you will meditate on this amazing verse over the next week. Today I want us to focus on the middle of Romans 12:2.

Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out.“ Romans 12:2 (Msg)

The reason we struggle to break free from destructive habits and make positive changes is because of the old thought patterns in our brains that have to be changed. Real change always starts with changing my thinking. If I change the way I think, then I’ll change the way I act. If I change the way I act, then I’ll change my daily habits. If I change my daily habits, The only way to change the way I think is to change my focus. That’s

“… fix our attention on God.” Romans 12:2 (Msg)

instead of focusing on the culture, others’ opinions, my feelings, my circumstances, my past failures, my old thought patterns or anything else! Today, change your focus from what you can’t do to what God can.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Phil. 4:13 (NASB)

Today, stop focusing on your weakness and instead focus on God’s strength! Don’t focus on your failures—instead focus on God’s forgiveness!

Remember the three big things we’re doing during our Inside Out Project, and let’s focus on our great God and go for it!

     1.     WALK A MILE IN THEIR SHOES.

Every day, walk a mile to exercise your body; but as you do, pray for the people we are ministering to in the mission project on the weekly card.  If you already jog three or four miles a day, just bring the card along and pray for the hurting and hungry that are listed on the card.

      2.     EAT A MEAL IN THEIR SHOES.

Half the world lives on less than a dollar a day, and their diet consists of no more than one cup of rice and one cup of beans a day. We are challenging you to eat at least one of your three daily meals like half the world does. You may even want to go three or four days with eating only one meal a day (one cup rice, one cup beans). When we feel a little twinge of hunger, it will remind us to pray and care for those who have nothing.

      3.     GIVE MY EXTRA OFFERING  on June 23/24

As we lose pounds we don’t need, we can give pounds to people who desperately need it! The weekend of June 23/24, we are having a special missions’ offering to give extra, thanking God for the weight we’ve lost and helping feed those who need it the most.

We’re praying for you and every day we will give you encouragement on our blog as we do the Inside Out Project together.
