Immeasurably More!

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us …” Ephesians 3:20 (NIV)

I love the phrase “immeasurably more” in this verse of scripture.  It describes a distinct quality of life that God offers every Christ follower!  He desires to do “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine!” in our lives, in our relationships, in our marriages and families!  Maybe you’re saying, “I’m in!”  How can we experience immeasurably more in our lives?  We need His power at work within us.  To experience His power, we need a daily diet of fresh manna from heaven.  Jesus is the Bread of Life that nourishes our souls and provides the strength we need to love one another and to serve one another.

Don’t settle for less!  That’s what natural relationships do.  They go stale.  They stay shallow.  They get stuck when they hit stress points, and they never seem to progress and grow.  Before long, they bail out only to recycle in another relationship.

If you want to revive a stale relationship and experience immeasurably more than all you could ask or imagine, do what Israel did in their wilderness experience when God provided them with manna from heaven.  To do that, you will need…

  1. An intentional daily plan. God offers fresh bread for the soul in His Word available to us each day.  Don’t settle for stale leftovers.  Yesterday’s bread won’t satisfy your soul. You need a fresh encounter with God each day.  Decide when you and your spouse will meet with the Lord together.  Start today.
  1. Intentional daily actions. God provided the manna, but they had to get up and go get it! If what you’ve been doing has grown stale and distasteful, spice up your relationship with loving actions.  Quit doing the same thing and just expecting different results.  Jesus put it like this:

“No one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins.” Luke 5:37-38 (NIV)

We all change.  There are seasons of life.  New situations require new strategies. If you’ve become so predictable that your spouse knows what you’ll do before it happens, surprise them!  Step out of your comfort zone with intentional daily actions that say, “I love you!” If you want what you once had, you need to do what you once did!

  1. An intentional daily power. The truth is that none of us have the power alone to sustain a fresh and vital relationship. Familiarity breeds contempt.  Only with God’s power can we take our relationship to a depth we’ve never imagined possible.  Left to ourselves, we’ll just stay on the surface unless we do something intentional to take it deeper!  Jesus said,

“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty.”  John 6:35 (NLT)

If you hunger for a relationship that stays fresh and grows deeper in love each day, you need an intentional daily power.  His power is available moment by moment.  The Bible describes His power as a power that is at work within us.  The greater access we give Him, the greater His power is at work within us!

With an intentional daily plan, intentional daily actions and an intentional daily power, you can experience immeasurably more in your relationships than all you could ask or imagine!
