Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” Prov. 3:5-6 (NLT)

What does it mean to trust in the Lord with all your heart?  As you meditate on this passage, you’ll discover a pattern that is consistent throughout the Bible and makes memorizing easier.  Scripture often explains itself as one part of the verse builds upon the other.  When the Bible says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart”, it gives a practical understanding to what that means in the next phrase, “do not depend on your own understanding.”  In other words, when I’m trusting God, I’m not relying on my limited perspective.  I’m believing that God is in control and, despite whether I understand things or not, He will accomplish His purpose for me.  The Message paraphrases that passage like this:

“Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own.”

Are you still trying to figure out everything on your own?  Faith becomes an exciting adventure when we release control of our circumstances to God and quit trying to figure everything out.  We learn to let God be God.  We become fully committed followers of Jesus Christ and let Him take the lead.  When we do, we experience a peace that transcends understanding!
