“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.” Matt. 5:14-15 (NLT)
Many of the verses we’ve meditated on the past few weeks have focused on what God has done for us, replacing our fear and timidity with love, power, and self-discipline, making us a new creation in Christ while He guards our hearts and minds with peace that exceeds anything we could possibly understand! Talk about a faith that flourishes! What do we possibly need that God has not provided? We are complete in Christ!
Our passage this week will challenge us with what God desires to do through us. “You are the light of the world….” Each day, take some time to meditate on this passage in Matthew 5:14-15 from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. Let its message awaken in you the purpose for which His life transformed you and brought you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Read it. Recite each phrase with emphasis. Remember it throughout your day. Reflect it in your life. Let your light shine that everyone may see Christ!
