Fake News or Good News

“‘The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me; He has appointed Me to preach Good News. …”Luke 4:18a (TLB)

With the explosion of social media and news outlets today, fake news has become so common it’s almost impossible to distinguish. Fact checkers are scrambling to separate what is true from what is false. It’s no wonder the public is confused. Left alone, that confusion leads to chaos and conflict in our world.

A similar battle for truth takes place every day in our spiritual lives.  The problem is as old as Genesis and finds its roots in a diabolical enemy Jesus called a liar and the father of lies. The most damaging fake news ever are the lies that Satan convinces us are true that cripple us from experiencing the fullness of life God intended for us. But Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil.  He did that with Good News!  It’s called the Gospel.

When Jesus stood and read from the scroll of Isaiah in His hometown synagogue of Nazareth at the beginning of His public ministry, He declared, “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me; He has appointed Me to preach Good News. …” Luke 4:18a (TLB)

The Good News is that God does care!  You are not alone in your struggle.  He knows. He understands. He has the power to heal and change you!  It’s not too late!  Jesus came to declare the Good News and demonstrated it on the cross where He died in our place that we may be forgiven!

In John 8:31-32 Jesus said, “If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” But, the truth you don’t know can’t liberate you. If you want to distinguish the Good News from the fake news, it’s essential to continue daily in God’s Word.

Don’t let Satan posts his fake news in your mind and heart any longer.  You are a child of the Most High God!  Stand daily in the liberty wherewith Christ has set you free!
