“If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work.” 1 Cor. 3:12-13
Clarity is expressed by the contribution of my life. This is so important because if what I believe doesn’t affect how I live, I don’t really believe it. If you’re not living out your beliefs, they’re really not your foundational beliefs, and that’s a real problem in Christianity today. The way you know what your foundational beliefs are is you look at your calendar, your day timer, and your checkbook. Look at the way you spend your time and the way you spend your money. Those are the only two things that show you what your real beliefs are. That’s it. Because if what we believe doesn’t come out in our lives, we don’t really believe it. If it is a foundational belief, we will stake our life on it. We will build our life on it.
What do you really believe? What’s really most important in your life? I want you to see this next verse. Verse 12 and 13, it says “If any man builds on the foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is because the day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire and the fire will test the quality of each mans work.” You see, every day you’re building your life, and you’re building on a foundation. You are using building materials, and one day when we get to heaven, in the first 60 seconds if you are a Christ follower, then everything you built in your life will be tested. You have the foundation of Christ so you will be in heaven forever, but then whatever you’ve built will be tested with fire to see what your house is going to look like in heaven. It is going to be tested with fire.
So, what’s your foundation? Is it Jesus Christ? Today I encourage you not to risk it all with nothing to lose, but give it all with everything to gain!!
