Psalm 92

“But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. For they are transplanted to the LORD’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God.”
Psalm 92:12-13 (NLT)

Do you have a flourishing faith? Is it growing stronger with a heart that beats after God’s heart? Is your faith flourishing or floundering? There’s a simple principle in life that whatever you nourish will flourish. In Psalm 92:12-13 (NLT), the Psalmist says, “… the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. For they are transplanted to the LORD’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God.”

Check out the next verse. “Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green.” Psalm 92:14 (NLT). Not even the deterioration of time and physical abilities can prevent us from living fruitful lives! Talk about a flourishing faith! So how do we nourish our souls to have a flourishing faith like that? I think the answer is found in verse 13. “For they are transplanted to the LORD’S own house. They flourish in the courts of our God.”  I don’t know about you, but I feel consciously closer to God when I’m in His house, when I’m in worship every weekend at church, when I’m among God’s people. It’s interesting that the New Living Translation uses the word “transplanted” in verse 13. Transplanted implies that we weren’t naturally planted there. It is an intentional effort that brings great blessings! When we connect with God and others at His house, we feel the strength and spiritual vitality that worship offers. Do you have a local church home where you can nourish your faith? Maybe it’s time you are transplanted from your isolation of doing faith alone and experience the vitality of a church family committed to following Jesus Christ and impacting our world for Him. Psalm 92 was actually a song to sing on the Lord’s Day in the Lord’s house among the Lord’s people.  Read through this Psalm as you prepare your soul for worship this weekend.

If you don’t have a church home, we invite you to check out our Membership Class this Sunday, August 24th, following the 11:30am service at any of our three campuses or online. You can register now and join us for a free lunch. A fruitful life comes from a flourishing faith!
