“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 (NLT)
As Christ followers we have a purpose to live for and a power to live on! It is a power greater than human strength, determination or will. To experience that power, we must plug into the power source. A 220V power source offers twice the power as a 110V. That’s one of the ways I remember Galatians 2:20. If you want twice the power, plug into Christ! That’s what Paul did, and it transformed his life! He was never the same! God gave Paul a power to live on, and He offers you and me the same power.
For most of his life, Paul tried keeping the law to please God and to be accepted by Him. It was like plugging in an appliance that needed 220 volts to run in an outlet that only provided 110 volts of power. It won’t work. Despite his noble efforts, Paul realized this truth when he said, “For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.” Galatians 2:16d (NLT)
We need a power greater than our own. He goes on to say, “Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ …. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.” Galatians 2:16; 21(NLT) When Paul plugged into Christ, he experienced a power greater than his own to live on. He said, “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 (NLT)
If your Christian life has any other explanation than Christ living in you, it is not the Christian life. You’ll be frustrated and probably blow a fuse trying. You need the power of 220 – Galatians 2:20. The power He supplies will never run out!
