Everyone has a dominant life priority. For some people it is making money, so when they choose between two jobs they will choose the job that makes the most money. For some people their dominant life priority is education, so their decisions will be based on education. For other people it is having fun, so when they are faced with two options they are going to choose the thing that is going to be the most fun. However, scripture tells us that the only dominant life priority that leads to true fulfillment is love.  1 Corinthians 14:1 says:

“Let love be your highest goal! ….”

But love is really misunderstood. Most people think it is a feeling or an emotion, but it is not. In his book God in the Dock, C.S. Lewis put it this way:

“Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person’s ultimate good as far as it can be obtained.”

Jesus said we can sum up all scripture in two verses. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and love your neighbor as yourself. So make it your priority, your dominant life priority, to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself. And remember, it will determine your decisions which in turn determine your destiny.
