Alan Shepherd, the first American astronaut, was once asked by a reporter, “What is the number one thing you are counting on in your first voyage?” Alan Shepherd replied, “I am depending on the fact that God’s laws never change.” Aren’t you glad the law of gravity doesn’t reverse itself every other day? Aren’t you glad the laws of God are the same day in and day out? In a world of constant change and uncertainty, you need to have a foundation that never changes.

“They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit, but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock.” Matt. 7:24-25

In a shaky world, you need a solid foundation that never changes. If you tie your hopes and dreams to anything that can change or be taken away, you will always be stressed by change. If you put your hopes and dreams and you build your life upon something that never changes, then you will be solid in the uncertainties of life. God never changes. In Malachi 3:6 Jesus says this about himself, “I am the Lord, and I do not change.” This is so important to remember. When things are constantly changing, we have one who never changes; He is faithful when I am faithless. He never changes because He is always true to His character and true to His Word. You can always count on Jesus Christ.
