A Father Who Cares

We have a God who is a caring Father. “The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him…” Nahum 1:7. There is no other world religion that describes a God who runs, picks up, hugs, and kisses his child like the God of the Bible. No other religion depicts God in this way. They all picture a God who is a stern and powerful judge. They all require you to follow all these tenants and rules in order to be accepted. Then, if you reach a certain level, maybe God will approve of you. However, in the story of the Prodigal Son we see God in a very different light. It just blows me away. We see a God who says, “I love you just the way you are. You can stop running. You can stop trying to please everyone. I love you just the way you are. If you’ll just realize that you need me and come to me broken, then I’ll run to you.” Some of us just need to stop running today so that God can run to us and hold us and tell us, “You’re my child, I love you.”

“Cast all your anxiety on him for he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
