A Dream of Purpose

Joseph’s dream was all about serving, and a dream from God will always serve others. A dream from God will also benefit the body of Christ. In Ephesians 1:22 it says, “The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church. The church is Christ’s body in which He speaks and acts, by which He fills everything with His presence.” The church is the hope of the world because the church is the body of Christ, and the church, you and I…people, not a building, are Christ’s hands and feet and voice. We are God’s plan to heal the hurting world. And whenever my dream aligns with God’s plan for this world, there is power in that. If a dream is from God, it will always bless the body of Christ because that is God’s ultimate plan for history … His Story… to redeem mankind. It’s through the body of Christ, the church, that He’s building His family. When I align my plan with God’s purpose, there is power in it because God’s purpose is to use the church to touch the world.

There were two pastors in Sulfur Springs, TX, who really had a dream from God about what would happen if all the community leaders, political leaders and churches of all denominations came together to really try to reach their county, Hopkins County, for Christ, and to make a difference to heal the hurting in that county. They got together and started praying about it, and they got other pastors and leaders together and prayed about it. They have been getting together now for several years, and one of them read “One Month To Live” and said, you know, maybe this One Month to Live Challenge could be something that could really bring us all together, the whole community together. These two pastors started going from church to church and talking to other pastors of all different denominations. They would say, “Lord, help us as we go talk to them.” They would start telling them about the challenge and the churches joined in. God just prepared the way, and 40 churches from all different denominations came together to do the One Month to Live Challenge. The community leaders, all six county judges, the police chief and everyone on the police force, the Mayor and all the elected officials and everyone in the whole county did the One Month to Live Challenge. It wasn’t all about the One Month to Live Challenge, it wasn’t about me, and it was about what God was doing through these two guys who just believed. They had a dream that lined up totally with God’s heart. Blessing the body of Christ and bringing the body of Christ together, and it was amazing!

Pray that God will help you align your plan with His purpose.
