“Cast the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.” 1 Peter 5:7 (AMP)
Wouldn’t it be great if we could give someone else all our worries and release the pressure of the problems that stress us out? How would you feel if you could let someone else carry the load of all your concerns? Ready to dump them? You can. Set aside some quiet time right now. Rid your mind of any distractions and focus for a moment on this command from 1 Peter 5:7. Peter was writing to Christ followers who were suffering. Many had already been displaced from their homes and loved ones because of their faith in Jesus. They were suffering grief from all kinds of trials according to chapter one. Maybe you can relate. You thought becoming a Christ follower would relieve the daily problems and pressures and you feel disillusioned wondering if you or God somehow missed it. Take heart. You are not alone. That’s why Peter wrote to these believers as well as to us today. He gives us hope that someone cares. Meditate on this promise today. Quiet your heart and read it out loud. Then read it out loud again with emphasis on each phrase asking God what He wants to say to you about it. Now, read it out loud again and take note of your part and God’s part in this verse. What does it tell you to do? What does it say God would do?
Before you leave the passage, read it out loud for the fourth time and relax in the presence of the One who created you and cares about you more than anyone ever could. Let the comfort of the Holy Spirit refresh your soul and renew your mind with His presence releasing the pressure of those problems that have burdened you down. Experience His love for you by thanking Him for caring for you affectionately and watchfully.
