21 Days of Clarity: Day 5

Day 5: Friday, January 15, 2016

Join us every day as we develop the spiritual habit of reading God’s Word – The Divine Map and learn to follow the Divine Guide – the Holy Spirit as He navigates us through the confusing times we live with clarity and peace.

Navigate John 14:16-17 (NIV)

And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever– the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.”

It must have been discouraging when Jesus told His disciples He was leaving them. Separation can bring a feeling of loss, confusion, and grief.  But, Jesus told them to not let their hearts be troubled because He was asking the Father to give them another Counselor who would be with them forever!  As a Christ follower, you have received the gift of the Holy Spirit.  He is the believer’s Counselor and guide.  Jesus said we would know Him, for He lives with us and will be IN US!  What could be more comforting?  You and I have a counselor available to us 24/7!  He will guide us, comfort us, and empower us to live a supernatural life we could never live on our own!  The Bible says,

“His Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. … For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” Romans 8:16, 14 (NLT)

When you pray, you are speaking with a person who has come to take up residence in your heart to the degree that you yield to Him.  His presence and power are experienced by faith and obedience.  As you pray, choose to follow the direction the Holy Spirit is leading you and to obey the commands He has given you in His Word.

  1. What is God showing you through today’s Bible reading?
  1. Review your journal and see how God has been guiding you by His Spirit.  God works in our lives to put His glory on display and use our life message to bring hope to others.  Who can you share your journey with that may encourage them as well?
