Day 14: Sunday, January 24, 2016
Join us every day as we develop the spiritual habit of reading God’s Word – The Divine Map and learn to follow the Divine Guide – the Holy Spirit as He navigates us through the confusing times we live with clarity and peace.
THE DIVINE MAP READING
Navigate Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.
Nothing gives you more security than knowing that you are in the will of God, that God is directing your path, and that He is leading you. Do you have that confidence? Are you seeking His will and direction in your life this year? The New Living Translation renders Proverbs 3:6 like this:
“Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” The New International Version says, “… He will make your paths straight.” The Amplified Bible says God will make your path plain. The Message adds, “He will keep you on track.” Another version says, “He will clear the road for you to follow.” (CEV) And Today’s English Version says, “He will show you the right way.” What a promise to claim as we launch into a new year! God desires for us to know His will. The invitation of Jesus is simple and clear. “Follow Me…” Here’s some good news – I don’t have to make up the plan. I just need to stay in step with Jesus day by day. Are you following Jesus? How do you know? Proverbs gives us the answer.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. (Prov. 3:5-6 NLT)
Instead of concentrating so much on what to do, press in to a more intimate and personal relationship with Christ. Rest in Him with the simplicity of a child who rests in the confident direction, provision, and counsel of a loving parent. The wisdom of Proverbs shows us how in three practical steps:
- “Trust in the Lord with all our heart.”
- “Do not depend on your own understanding.”
- “Seek His will in all you do.”
Scripture is full of examples of those who did and experienced the favor of God’s Divine Direction!
It’s human nature to depend on your own understanding. It’s our default response to most situations. But, prayer enables us to change that default and determine to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not lean on our own understanding. Bring every decision before the Lord that you’re facing and seek His will in all you do. Thank God that He will show you which path to take.
