21 Days of Clarity: Day 1

Day 1:  Monday, January 11, 2016

We invite you to go on a 21-day adventure with us that will guide you through the rough seas of confusion and uncertainty that we all face. At the end of our 21 devotionals, it is our prayer that you will find your confusion replaced by divine clarity and the God-given ability to make wise and destiny-changing decisions.

Every day for the next 21 days, we will start with a reading from God’s Word, the map that helps us navigate the ocean of indecision and find divine direction.

THE DIVINE MAP READING

Navigate James 1:5-8 (TLB)

If you want to know what God wants you to do, ask Him, and He will gladly tell you, for He is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask Him; He will not resent it. But when you ask Him, be sure that you really expect Him to tell you, for a doubtful mind will be as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind; and every decision you then make will be uncertain, as you turn first this way and then that. If you don’t ask with faith, don’t expect the Lord to give you any solid answer.

Sometimes it really is as simple as asking.  James says, “You do not have, because you do not ask God.” James 4:2 (NIV) So, ask God today for the direction you need in your life.  Don’t continue full speed ahead when you are lost.  Pull over and ask for direction.  Ask God for divine wisdom to see your situation from His point of view.  Let Him speak truth into your life and shed light on your path.  It will save a lot of wasted time, resources and frustration and you’ll experience God in a new dimension like you may have never experienced Him before.

PRAY

Ask God for His divine direction in your life. Get really specific.  Nothing in life becomes dynamic until it first becomes specific.  General prayers get general answers.  Rather than praying “God bless the world or my family,” pray specifically for a blessing in their lives that would demonstrate His power and glory.  Do the same in your life.  God longs to bless you and give you His Spirit.  Pray today for the fullness of the Holy Spirit in your life to enlighten your understanding from His Word and give you wisdom for skillful living.

CHART

  1. Write down what God is showing you through today’s Bible reading.
  1. Write down your #1 prayer request this New Year, and put the date beside it.  Be specific and log what happens next.  Make a connection between what you are praying and what God is doing around you.
